It’s Not Goodbye, But See You Later
[Read time: 1-2 mins]
The 27th of August, marks a bittersweet day for the Star Centre as we bid farewell to our lead Advocacy Worker, Pamela.
It’s been eight incredible years since Pamela first joined the STAR Centre team, starting her journey as a children and Young Persons worker. Soon after, she transitioned into the National Advocacy Project, becoming part of the first cohort of workers across Scotland.
Throughout her time at STAR, Pamela has supported hundreds of survivors, offering both emotional and practical assistance as they navigated their criminal justice journeys. But Pamela’s contributions extend far beyond her advocacy role. She’s worn many “hats” at STAR, notably as a member of the drumming group StarBeats, who even created their own single and music video. She’s also been a powerful voice at the Reclaim the Night marches, where her rousing speeches have energized the streets of Kilmarnock.
For those of us who have had the privilege to know Pamela, we can attest to her kindness, empathy, and the care she extends to everyone. Whether it’s the way she warmly welcomes people into the centre, celebrates their victories, or bears witness to their pain, Pamela has always been a source of compassion. Her supportive nature reaches beyond the survivors she advocates for, touching every member of the STAR team. She’s always ready to listen, provide a safe space, and share her pearls of wisdom. And let’s not forget her knack for recommending the perfect book at just the right time!
For all these reasons and many more, we will miss you deeply, Pamela. This isn’t goodbye, but rather, see you later.
