Resources for Practitioners Working with Young People
At The STAR Centre we understand that many practitioners in school and youth settings receive disclosures from young people that have experienced sexual violence. This can be an emotive area of work and it can sometimes be difficult to know what to do to support young people who have experienced this or who have been identified as potential perpetrators. Young people tell us that the adults and practitioners around them can improve our responses to their experiences.
It is important to us at The STAR Centre that we do our best to support the frontline staff that are supporting children and young people. We can support you, your staff and your organisation in a variety of ways:
- Equally Safe At School (ESAS)
- Takes on a whole-school approach to tackling gender-based violence. Online training module is provided to all staff, with a more intensive training for frontline staff conducted in person.
- Input from the Rape Crisis Sexual Violence Prevention Program
- A collection of workshops delivered to students by the Sexual Violence prevention team on consent, healthy relationships, what sexual violence is, online safety, power dynamics, and pornography.
